This is just something I had come up with a long time ago. I have not finished it as I did not really think anyone would enjoy it. So I am putting it here for crits.

Please note that this document is graphic and contains tragedy, blood, gore, etc, etc, etc. Anyone who reads this document does so at their own risk. If you choose to read this document I hope I get feedback, otherwise if you do not like horror stories, stories about the end of the world, etc, etc, etc, THEN DO NOT READ.

Summer time twenty years ago when I was a young teenager was fun. Riding our bikes as fast as we could downhill without a care in the world, we would soon long for those days. Jeremy was but sixteen and had a drivers license. I on the other hand still had four months to go before I could get my driver’s license. I had my learners permit and I would often drive with my mom to the store so I could get drive time in.

I remember it like yesterday, mom and I was going to Smits, a small chain of department stores in the mid-west. I felt like the big man of the town when I drove mom too where she had to go. Dad was killed in the war many years before. I was only two when he died and mom never really had any boyfriends. I think she was still in love with dad.

This was before the blast that came out of the sky and wreaked havoc on the entire planet. When the blast hit it turned the oceans of the world into steam and threw water miles in to the atmosphere. The masses of land were once again joined as they were over two billion years ago. The continents of the world were no longer separated by water, unless of course you came upon a lake, if you were lucky you had an S.C.I.B. (Self Contained Inflatable Boat). An S.C.I.B was a small one person boat that would fold up to the size of a small sheet of paper, the type that uses to go in those printing machines people used.

The world use to be full of smart people until the blast and then almost overnight it seemed as though we went back in time. Without factories and such, people did not have to use brain power, and we are pretty much relearning all the stuff we knew before the blast. Some people are really out there too, they want to eat other humans and are often scarred from the blast. I seen one myself, the thing was really hideous looking, there seemed to be a big fat pimple on his left chest area where his heart would be at. The thing would pulsate as though it was this beast’s life line, his heart, and maybe even his soul.

The Breeds’ are often seen when it is warm out, they can’t survive cold temperatures of 45 degrees or less. Some Breeds’ are civilized most are not and they would just rip your head off as soon as look as you. I seen a friendly one the other day and it was pushing something around on the ground. I went to go check as it seemed to be one of the friendly ones.

I got closer and noticed a rusted bicycle wheel spinning around from the light breeze that was blowing. The wheel was kind of bent with no tire on it. As I got closer I noticed more of the Breed and seen that it was ripping at something. Then it became clear to mean, this was a Ripper Breed. The Ripper Breeds’ were genetically enhanced by some doctor from Old Japan. She said that it was possible to make war machines out of Breeds and still contain them.

Unfortunately the doctor was wrong and ended up becoming a victim of her own design. The last great mind on Planet Rondure had met her demise with the single slash to the back of her neck. Separating her spine in two pieces just at the base of her neck, I am sure she did not feel anything….. Or did she?

As I noticed the Ripper Breed I started to back pedal and tried to escape but it was too late. The Ripper saw me. I reached for my NJ-52 and leveled it toward the Ripper and as it got about ten feet away I let the Ripper have it. The NJ-52 let out a loud roar and as the junk metal came out of the barrel it shook the ground beneath my feet. The Ripper Breed stopped dead in its tracks and after all the blood cleared I seen that about the only thing left of the Ripper Breed was half of its torso and the remainder of of its lower body.

I inspected the Ripper and seen that it had some Red Tea on its belt loop. Red Tea is a cure all for any breathing, living, killable thing. Red Tea must be taken in small doses or it can kill you. I quickly scooped up the Red Tea from the Ripper and put it in my pack. I took one more look at the Ripper and kicked it for some reason or another. I still have no idea why I did.

After sometime I arrived three miles away in the New Carroll. God it was an awful long fucking walk, I really have to find a different mode of transportation other then my two feet. I was excited about coming to New Carroll; I could look up my old friend Jeremy. I have no doubts that he and his family are getting along just splendid in New Carroll.

Before New Carroll was New Carroll it was just plain old Carroll. The trees were green and the grass had a fresh cut smell at all times, even in the winter the grass would grow. The blast changed that, now New Carroll is just that new. The house that with stood the blast was really nothing more than a place to keep shelter when the burn levels got to high. The old playground in the middles of park was partially still there and the merry-go-round still worked, even though there were a lot of holes where we use to stand.

I walked past the playground and on to the broken hot asphalt to cross the street so I could get to Jeremy’s house. I noticed that when I got closer to the house the front door was off of the hinges, as though someone had kicked the door in. I slowly drew my old Remchest shotgun off my back and crept up slowly to the porch. Not knowing if anyone is in the house I slowly made my way through the frame of the door and had noticed that the hinges of the door was missing.

I made it through the foyer and up the stairs and seen something lying on a bed. I moved slower so I would hopefully not make any noise. As I came closer I could see it was Jeremy and he looked awful pale, that was when I felt the cold steel of something pressing the back of my neck. I slowly raised my hands up in the air and as I did I was told to turn around slowly by a feminine voice. I began to turn and the more I turned the features of the face looked familiar, it was Jeremy’s wife.

Jen told me that Jeremy has been sick for awhile and he was unable to work on the house, so they just use a blanket now and rig up the guns at night to blast anyone’s ass away that comes in without the correct permission. I offered to reinstall the door. After hanging the door up I then went backup stairs and spoke with Jeremy.

Jeremy was not feeling too well but he was able to speak in a somewhat slurred speech. He told me what happened to him at the lake and he was worried that he may turn. A breed and his family was at the lake when a small group of thug breeds showed up and began making trouble for the breeds who was just having a nice time at the lake. Jeremy, being the neutral guy that he is, always tries to find an alternate route to trouble when possible. Anyway the thug breeds started pushing the family around and even took the eldest son who apparently could not swim well, and threw him into the lake.

Jeremy then stepped in and asked them to layoff of the family as they were causing no harm to anyone. That is when a tall lanky one took a small thick metal bar out from behind him and struck Jeremy on the head, after that a small burley breed licked his hand and wiped it across the gaping wound on Jeremy’s head knowing full well that there is a good chance that Jeremy would get infected and turn into one of the hideous creatures. When Jeremy got back home he did not tell anyone and instructed his wife to do the same also.

Once Jeremy finished his story he fell back into a slumber I sat down and waited for him to wake back up, it was then that I noticed his wife standing in the doorway. I seen that she was once a beautiful lady as I glanced her over a quick look, it was then I noticed the boil growing on her neck. She sat there staring at me with intense rage in her eyes. I slowly pulled out my Remchest and leveled it at her.

Unfortunately it was to late for her, she started drooling from her mouth, when she opened it I could see that her teeth had deteriorated very quickly. All of a sudden she made a charge for me, I pulled the trigger on my Remchest and I could see the deer slug penetrate her head as it blew apart. She stood there for a moment then fell to the floor. What was left of the head I kicked it repeatedly until it was just mush. I noticed that the brains scattered on the wall had started sliding down toward the floor slowly.

works well on a literary dimension.

Games with grafix is a visual medium and storyboarding it might present you wth challenges and give birth to ideas of how to better tell the story with visual tools...

If this is to be an interactive story in 3d you must think of the way to "force" the player to follow your desired path if he has options to choose different paths, he will).....

Storyboarding is the next step I wold recommend...and start mocking up the crude environment of the world inside of which this will unfold. No details just rough cubes, spheres and cylinders to begin with...and test the storyline ingame to get a feel of temporal and spacial aspects.....during this process you will get whole bunch of new ideas and ways to solve the arsed problems...

Keep up the good work:)

Thanx for sharing
