I don't know but Lightspeed runs a bit slower compared to Vision Engine on my machine.

Can someone make torrent with GameBryo?
As more as I playing with GB as more similarities I see with Unity.
In my point of view GBL is a source independent version of the older GB 2.6, where the scope of the application is to fasten up development speed on the aspect of artis but also on the aspect of development, allowing artists to quickly export and compose there scenes in the preferred artis tool and arrange them in the Scene Designer, while at the development part you can write lua scripts as behaviors applying them quickly to your scene elements without recompiling the whole source.
The same thing is going on in Unity, except maybe the fact that you don't have that complete real time update inside your game, because you have to press the play button.
The scene editor and script part concept is totally the same.
Disadvantage here for Unity is that it has no such complete and fantastic plugin integration as GB has, where you actually create your materials, shaders, light maps, animations, physics behaviors in your favorite 3d app and simply export them into your GB project.
At the other hand, Unity has almost all the tools, sound management, physics, water and special effect, AI, GUI already integrated or down loadable for free, while GB seems to use these tools as acquirable components but not included inside.
Support forum is also a big deal which adds an additional plus to Unity. The Unity community is fantastic and helpfully.
I won't mention here the price difference because GB is a much higher level of game creation then Unity, this fact is reflected simply in the tools provided, the apps integrated and the resulted games created during the years, but the main concept of the usage is very similar.
I like it, but I'm wondering is it possible to go over the whole creation process and create a game with this version?

I don't think there should be a problem, as the key I have found is compiled into the samples that are on the 'original' iso-image, so it should come from Gamebryo's already compiled binaries (should not have anything to do with the trial key).
But I'm not sure.....
- Rebuild all your programs / samples.
You mean even the tools, like the Toolbench,SceneDesigner and the rest?

B.t.w. I checked the DodgeBall.exe binary which is built 30:th of April and it has the same key as I found, so it shouldn't be Astaror's trial key.

Totally agree, it can't be Astaror's evaluation key, because this key CANNOT even pass the validation during installation (how can you evaluate a product if you cannot even install it?). You'll still have to use the old 2.3 key to install GB Lightspeed, then change the key after installation is done. EXEs compiled with this key run just fine without watermark. According to GB docs, evaluation key will cause watermark in the lower right corner. So it must be an internal key used by GB people.

Agreed.
It seems more and more game engine are using component system here and there. Unity, TorqueX 3D, and I also find Trinigy using component concept to add player control, camera control, etc.
I haven't installed GB yeh, but from the videos I watched, their entity modler is fantasy, the way you comined properties into entity, apply behavior to entity, and using preset to manage pre-configured entity just make sense. Can't wait to try it out.
I like it, but I'm wondering is it possible to go over the whole creation process and create a game with this version?
I also have the same concern. It seems it's far more complex to create a even simple game in GBL than other indie game creation system. At lease it takes much more time to even master all the concepts and tools with GBL.
But the good side is that since Gamebryo is getting more and more popular, all the knowledge we learn might eventually help us to join a AAA game development team. (At lease that's what I dream) :)

I have the same question. I think their should be some default water shader comes from Vision SDK, but have no luck to find it.
The fantasy demo comes some water reflection effect, but since it's been compiled into a .v file, we can't take a look into the scene file.

Yeah, I know. I read that part. I wasn't being very accurate. What I meant was essentially we get a retail-like key, not evaluation or other crappy equivalent, though it cannot bypass the installation check.
I don't think there is any difference among the installation medias for evaluation user, academic partner, or binary licensee. Everyone gets the same binaries, without source code of the engine itself. Only the key matters.

stephio i just like this engine becouse he's easy and easy to learn even for one person team! With gamebryo or cryengine 2 you need team to create a game!

No, there is no anything like this. :(
About Orion - Orion is not compatible with GBL, because there are too much differences between 2.6 and GBL.
I'll check the key today, in about 2-3 hours (i'm at work now), and guys, thank you very much :) I don't think, that they made special DVD for me :) but i was one of the first evaluators... so give me 2-3 hours :)
Now about integrations for GBL - please take a look at their site, and tell me what do you exactly needs :)
Unity is a good product, but it's impossible to quickly made really great(visual) game with it because there is no integrations with such middleware as Morpheme, SpeedTree, Scaleform and so on...
P.S.: If someone have any morpheme product - please share it :) This is the last one middleware what i need.

After We've tested Vision Engine, their documentation and other things.
and testing GameByro with all their stuff ^^.
We've found that Vision Engine is a very much better choice.
1. Price, price is fairly cheap for us, we'll buy one Source license for me(the HEAD developer) and 2 Artist SDKs for the other two programmers, the 4 artists will use the Open XXX stuff.
2. DirectX11, DirectX10 and DirectX9, headed towards PCS, as it's so it has a plus for us against gamebyro which is very complicated and headed very much to multiplatform than Per-Platform.
3. We've got results on Vision Engine much more faster than gamebyro ^^, although they might not be the same quality.
Vision Engine is our choice, thanks all!
(first we need to see if we can license the XXX manga/anime to be a game, so our budget stays good. XXX stands for the anime/manga which we decided, not going to mention any names or pictures, so when the final product comes out, no one knows it was us here :p.)
I choose Vision engine, gamebyro is headed towards 100+ person teams, and very big studios.

I reversed it and found Gamebryo's own license key which they use in their own samples.
So, just use Gamebryo's own license key!
Because you cannot use it during install, it means that it's not a trial key!

1) Installation:

use: C7DB3BE5B760D852 during install
2) After installation:

- Run cmd.exe

About the integration for Gambryo: well I think the most important one is speedtree, illuminate labs beast,xaitEngine for AI.
All depend of needs and project. For simple project i'll select Vision. For big project i'll select GBL :)

We can implement ocean/water system by ourselfs!

I'm afraid that the shader itself won't help so much, you also need some scripting, and unfortunately a heavy coded one.
For a realistic ocean system, with waves and foam, I think the best solution (worth include in a quality game) here would be to code the Tessendorf water, which should involve a very good knowledge of math, programming and shader skills.

Time lock exists. Just try to run 3ds max. It gives error message and even closes program. I didn't try to compile anything with new serial, must confess - without 3ds max exporter it is nothing. And dont tell me about nif tools.

Yep... I can confirm that the max toolbar is not working anymore, but I recompiled a few samples and they just run fine. At this stage it's pretty useless, since you cannot export your art assets.
In any case, a big thanks to Renfield for his efforts.

If I was to make things from scratch I would have made my own engine. It's an expensive engine ffs, even free- to cheap engines have the basic, sky-cloud-ocean.

I am playing with these engines and I worked with many engines before , personally I experienced that great engines are suitable for great teams and great budget and great products !
so for a team with maximum of 15 people like ours (sometimes just 8 person) a more integrated engine is needed , currently we are working with virtools 4.0 and it is cool !
virtools is a good engine for smaller products and this is the reason that many big teams like "code masters" are using this engine for prototyping ! but it has some problems like bugs ,
bad editor , vs 2003 sdk , sourceless engine ,... but it is cool and many problems are solved in next version , I am waiting for the they that virtools 4.1 or 5.0 be here!

Temporary workaround for Gamebryo Timelock:
Use the old key for exporting something out of your DCC software, and the new key for compiling code. Here is how to setup your machine.
1) Set the environment variable NDLDEVLOCK to the OLD key. This is where the DCC exporters check for timelock.

2) In "Gamebryo-LightSpeed-Binary\sdk\Win32\Include\NiLicense.h", use the NEW key instead. This is the license code that gets compiled into your own application.

In this way, you can use the DCC exporters and run your own code successfully at the same time. No need to switch license code back and forth. Everything runs just fine.

Even if these tools don't work, you still have the option of open source NifTools (http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifTools) widely used in the "Elder Scrolls IV" and "Fallout 3" modding community.
Do some digging first before you call something useless next time.

I have some questions about LightSpeed:
1) It means debug information for some modules is missing from the "efd.lib" you are trying to link to. Maybe it wasn't compiled against the debug version of its dependencies. Since we don't have the source code to recompile "efd.lib", I doubt there is anything you can do.
2) There is memory leak in the code (dynamically allocated memory weren't properly released before exit).

There is water in Vision but you have to call it...which sucks for such an expensive engine.

Well implementation of a game engine can be done too, but you buy an engine to help you work straight forward to the game without the need to implement the basic things in a game such as water etc. hell even torque has them...

I'm sure there must be some help/tutorials/shader resources/scrips/codes on their DEV forum or "how to do's", but from here only Astaror has access.
Like for example:
For dynamic HDR tone mapping it is important to measure the light exposure on screen. This might be complicated to accomplish e.g. in case it is required to downsample the render target and read back pixel colors.
However, the approach shown in the following forum post is rather low-tech and straight forward.

As i've seen gamebryo is lightspeed version, that doesn't include the source code. But what about Trinigy, does it include the source code or is just de sdk? I've downloaded Trinigy (thanks very much for it) but i couldn't find the shaders folder. I only found the effects folder! If trinigy includes the source code then from the start is much more better the gamebryo lightspeed (which emergent said that is for rapid prototyping and not for a full game, you have to buy a full gamebryo license in order to complete your project)

I looked all over the net fot autodesk kynapse AI, or natural motion Morpheme, or Speedtree RT (full source code, and library model aprox 2 gb) and couldn't find them. You see, we don't try to make a game with cracked software but we try to make a prototype that in the future maybe will be a full game. But we don't have the tools necessary because the developers offer just one piece of their software. Probably, the best engine cracked remains Torque 3d 2009, full source code, and this version no. 10 in top 10 game engines (1-unreal engine, 2-gamebryo, 3-cryengine...)
actually if you do some research, you can actually create a pretty god damned prototype... there are countless tools for you to integrate with this, without having the source code ...
also, if you really need some of the integration tools for this engine, you can just ask the developer of such tool, and ask them for the integration pack for this engine... sometimes is THAT easy.
some ppl complain just because they can.
PS: if you so desperately want the SC of this one, you can go and for the 50k that it costs for an indie team.

Because these are evaluation copies. What kind of moron gives away source code to evaluators? You need the source, you pay $$$. If you can't afford it, use open source or get a job in big game studio.

You get full source codes in Trinigy's Vision Engine, otherthan you are blind, check VisionEngine/shared/include , you get all non-compiled libraries.
VisionEngine/shared/lib , pre-compiled libraries.
VisionEngine/shared/src , that is what applies with include.
VisionEngine/vForge , you got vForge source codes.
Yep Necron33 is right! You have the source to compile even the editors.
But in my opinion the source code is pointless for us small developers, you all complain that you cannot find an engine which can do AI, full physics, water and ocean system, cloud system and so on, but if you have such application you still say that is useless because doesn't have the source code!
Rapid development means that you have the tools you need to create a game, without need to write them for yourself or recompile with the engine. So yes, you can create a full game with GB Lightspeed, without having the source!
Just read some docs and you'll see that Nvidia Physics works inside 3dsMax or Maya, you just export the whole simulation out in GB and there you go.
Texturing and shaders works just by simply exporting the model and getting it to GB, you just have to use the shader and texture type given.
In Trinigy you have everything you need in the same way, even more you have the full include file and libraries to recompile the whole app., but why you would need it? Do you have the time and money to write additional tools which you will compile inside the engine? No, you can write them separately, with Lua in GB and C++ in Trinigy.
Something like that.

The code has always been a mess, always looked like it was hacked together, its bug ridden and if GarageGames track record holds straight they will create a new engine and totally ditch this one in 1-2 years, or they will keep improving it and charge for major feature updates.
I like the engine, for the price I can whip together a quick FPS action game in a few days with out touching the sdk. I would LOVE to work with Trinigy but after contacting them about my project I know now there is no way I will ever be able to touch that engine. ($50,000 for one indie title)
Just as another note, Garage Games owns devmaster.net so um yeah.... of course their engine will be number 1. If I owned that site and I had the shittiest engine on earth, it would be in the number 1 spot for sure. I can't hate em for it.

Garage games will just create a new engine after one year and say they won't update the other versions(they are doing this now!) to buy the new engine, Torque games is a piece of shit compared to next generation games graphics, HELL warcraft 3 graphics beats the hell out of them.

From what we have so far there is no water system.
The only thing we can do is copy the mirror plugin, modify it, create a new plugin 'water' and create shader for water.
I wish Astaror could search for tag 'water' to their dev forums.
I started studing Gamebryo a bit in detail.
Though it has water system (acceptable), the 3rd Party tools like Speedtree and others are provided separately as integration packages, which are downloadable if you have an account.
So still noting complet, to enjoy entirely.

now whenever i install a new program with some serial code or applying patch to crack it, i DISCONNECT FROM INTERNET first! if there are options to upgrade (Online or offline), i always prefer downloading the upgrade pack and do it locally first (upgrade offline), no internet connection..
since i once installed a program locally, it worked fine. next time i installed again the same program locally (removed before because of no hard disk space), it can't! later i found out that the only difference is that i DISCONNECT FROM INTERNET first and then the install is successful!!!!
I found that if we install program while connecting the internet, some company can detect this via internet and make your installation unsuccessful by modfiying your prgram config or make your license or serial code INVALID! especally the code used by lots of people before! (of course, the company never tells u directly, they do this only on the background........)
I don't know if installing or updating the game engine successfully with some code has relation with DISCONNECTing FROM INTERNET, but it may worth a try (i have no enough HD space to try for now). just an info.

Okay guys, but I have an another question about Gamebryo: how to make the scene .gsa file not dependents from the pallete file (.pal)?
Because if I'm using Scene Desingner scene with SceneApp, I cannot show this scene under the another machine, without the palette file. I could see just a gray screen.

I just don't feel right with any free modeler, MAX is perfect, aswell as Maya, but needs much learning for a programmer.

Lately I have not had time. But as I wrote here on the forum, will implement soon a keygen. For the moment I just bypassed, in the debugging static library, the control of date to work with the old code.

As far, as i know, there is no such version - 7.7.1... Latest is 7.6.20...
Yeah I downloaded 800 odd MB of that to open one file to say that its 7.6.3.
On another note, I applied to them for a trial version and received no response, yet Emergent, Crytek and Unreal all responded within a few days. I'm disappointed at the moment with Trinigy. I might just continue with the GB-LS trial I have and not bother with Trinigy.
